Designing Stone-Marix Asphalt with Sedimentary Carbonate Aggregates
Wednesday, October 26th
14:20
Javier García, USA
Bachelor of Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Costa Rica
Javier is from Costa Rica: a local! He obtained a Licentiate degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Universidad de Costa Rica. He worked as resident construction engineer and as infrastructure inspector before pursuing graduate studies in the USA at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Currently, he is a research assistant for Professor Imad Al-Qadi and a PhD Student. He has worked with optimizing the use of local aggregates (limestone/dolomite aggregates from Illinois) in high quality pavements (SMA mixes) and defining large-strain grading methods for asphalt binder. Javier hopes that his research efforts will help develop technology for the pavements industry.
